This is the third of five multi-movement sonatas I wrote in the late 70s when I was a post-graduate composition student at Cardiff university. The 'academic' tag relates to those circumstances rather than a descriptor of music - which I don't think sounds particularly academic. It was first performed at that time by Richard McMahon.
